I can’t believe that I almost forgot today was Cyber Monday.  Luckily, Kohl’s sent me an email with a discount code in it and it reminded me what today is. When I saw I could use my Kohl’s Cash online, I got excited and figured I’d purchase my kiddos their Tom Brady jerseys through the Kohl’s website and save myself the trip to Rochester. My daughter’s jersey was a normal $50. On sale it was $34.99 My son’s jersey was a normal $45. On sale it was $31.50. I had $60 in Kohl’s Cash plus...

Now that Thanksgiving is over, we have a house guest to entertain. His name is Patrick, and he’s an Elf on the Shelf. Three years ago my mom purchased an Elf on the Shelf after I heard about them on Q97.9 while driving home after dropping my daughter off at school one day. I thought it was an extremely cute idea, as did my mom, so she purchased one on Amazon that very day. To say it was one of the best purchases she’s ever made would be understatement. My daughter LOVES her elf. She’s believed he was real since...

Well, I have to say I wasn’t overly impressed with the Black Friday sales this year. I did get some good deals, but nothing like I have in previous years. The only place that my mother and I went to that I saved a boatload at was Kohl’s.  ...

Thanksgiving is just a couple days away, which means I need to start prepping for it. I was going to make a bacon-wrapped turkey, but I just don’t have the time, space or money this year to cook the meal I wanted. So I modified my Thanksgiving dinner menu a little bit. I’m making: A small spiral ham A Butterball Savory Herb Turkey Roast Maine potatoes Cranberry sauce Green bean casserole Butternut squash Stuffing Homemade gravy Rolls made from Take 2 Dough Production‘s dough Blueberry pie Pumpkin pie filling (My...

I’m always looking for ways to save money on items I use frequently when I cook. One item that I use often is dehydrated onions, so I decided it was in my best interest to make my own like my father does. He gave me his old dehydrator some time ago, and it truly has saved me money. I can buy bags of onions from Fiddlehead Marketplace or Market Basket...

My family LOVES ground chicken burger. We use it in everything from spaghetti sauce, to stroganoff, to tacos, to panko-coated burgers, to meatballs, etc. It’s basically a staple for us. So when I was at Walmart yesterday doing my grocery shopping and I saw packages for $1.92 each I scoffed them up. Generally, depending on where I shop, one package runs from $2.69 up to almost $4.00. So in other words, $1.92 was a steal. There were five packages left and I bought them all because I know we’ll end up using them. In fact,...

Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. I purchased Electronic Monopoly with my own money. We loved it so much that I wanted to share my thoughts with all of you. The other day I was talking to Amber from Thrifty Ninja and she mentioned she and her family had tried out Electronic Monopoly. I’ve been wanting to buy it for my daughter for quite some time but had held off because I didn’t know anyone who had tried it out. As soon as Amber told me what she thought, I knew I was going to splurge this weekend and buy my...

Recently I mentioned to several people I know my family’s version of homemade mac ‘n cheese. It’s one of our favorite meals to make, so I thought I’d share it with all of you, too. I actually just made  a batch yesterday for my dad’s birthday. And judging by the phone call I received last night after he ate it, I outdid myself. I did, however, to doublecheck with my mother this morning to make sure she enjoyed it, as well. She did. SCORE FOR ME! This recipe makes two huge batches of mac ‘n cheese....

I’m always emptying glass jars left and right around here. While I recycle some, I usually store panko breadcrumbs or dehydrated onions in others, or even use them as drinking glasses. Yesterday I got to thinking about what else I could use them for. So I went on a search for some ideas. Here they are. Some of them are really cute and I think would look adorable in my house. This is a really neat idea. I have a spot right above my kitchen table where this would look perfect. I’ve been wanting to replace my current lighting...

I first tried refried bean dip when I was six or seven at a neighbor’s house. It instantly became a favorite for my mother and I who have made it fairly regularly ever since. It’s a super easy snack or even meal to through together. It’s cheap, too, which is great. Ingredients: 1 can of refried beans – Store brand is fine. I prefer one...
