Every once in awhile I look at my stats on Google Analytics and through Jetpack to see what posts on my site are pulling in the most traffic and what states and countries view my site the most. I find it interesting that I get viewers from all over the world, including Australia, Germany, India, the UK, etc.
I also find the most popular posts info interesting since some of them were written without the intention of them ever being as popular as they are.
My Minecraft post doesn’t surprise me because Minecraft is huge right now. I assumed it would get some traffic since there aren’t many Minecraft decorations out there for purchase and parents may want ideas on how to make their own, especially if money is tight.
The one post that tends to get looked at a lot is the one I wrote about my son when he swallowed a Squinkie. When I wrote that post it wasn’t to help other parents in case their child also swallowed one. It was more of me laughing at my son pooping out a Lightning McQueen. Apparently, though, it has helped others, at least in the sense that they know they’re not alone. I’m assuming based on the search terms that bring people here that there are MANY children like my son who swallow them. That actually leads me to believe that they should no longer be on the market because they are very small and easy to swallow. And while most kids probably end up passing Squinkies without issue, there many be one kid that doesn’t and ends up in the hospital with a Disney Princess or Tow Mater lodged in his intestine.
Another very popular post for me is my Fairies in a Jar post. My kids and I had a blast making ours and I hope others have too.
