As you may remember, I mentioned awhile back that I was taking part in the Advocare 24 Day Challenge. Unfortunately, when I was about two and a half weeks or so in, I came down with a really bad flu that left me ill for a week. My husband and I both, in fact. He actually battled his flu for almost three weeks because it turned into bronchitis and the doctor felt was almost borderline pneumonia. It was a long road, and I was worried about him.
I personally discontinued the Challenge because I couldn’t keep up with all the steps that I needed to follow. Swallowing that many pills while sick wasn’t happening. Since then, I’ve signed up for Weight Watchers again while still taking some of my Advocare products, like Spark, which I LOVE!
Shortly after I signed up for WW, I came down with a cold that turned to bronchitis, which led to a bad bout with my asthma. It’s been about five weeks since all that started. I’m still dealing with sinus issues, which I believe is now because of allergies. Unfortunately it’s a common problem for many people I know right now.
Since I’m trying to keep my breathing under control, I haven’t been able to exercise. I have been watching what I eat, though. (Check out the yummy meal below!)
And as a result, I’m down almost 15 lbs since I first started the 24 Day Challenge.
I know to some that’s not a lot, but to me, it’s a big deal and something I’m quite proud of.
I’m not starving myself. I eat frequently throughout the day, but I’m more conscious of what I’m putting into my body and tracking it. There are days I do cheat, and when I do, I don’t down myself.
My philosophy right now is “Everything in moderation”.
If I want to have Chinese, I’m going to eat it.
If I want a big plate of spaghetti, I”m going to eat that too.
I just don’t eat like a mad woman every day of the week. And when I need a snack, I settle for healthier alternatives…for the most part. I will admit, though, that I do treat myself some nights to ice cream…without guilt.
As far as the meals I’ve been making, I utilize the Weight Watchers website a lot, as well as Pinterest. I’ve found some incredibly yummy meals that the whole family enjoys eating, which makes things much simpler for me. I feel like I have more support right now, which is great. I know it will help me be successful in this journey.
Because this house has been filled with sickness, like many other homes, my blog has been as active as I would have liked. However, I know there come points where I have to focus on my family and my health, and this was one of those times. Now that I feel I’m on the mend, I’m looking to catch up on work and to continue growing my site.
So what is up with all of you? I’d love to hear what you’ve all been up to over the past few months. Here are some photos of things we’ve been up to.
This is my son sparring at his last TKD (tae kwon do) testing in March. He has since moved up to a green belt.
And this is my daughter at the same testing. Her kicks are AMAZING! She has incredibly strong legs. And she, too, is now a green belt. I can’t wait for their next testing in June.
This is my son sliding down one of the ice tunnels at the Ice Castle in Lincoln, NH.
That’s great! Losing 15 lbs. in under 3 and a half weeks is awesome. I’m with you, that do eat what you want just in moderation.
I tried starving myself the first time I dieted. It worked wonders but I was miserable and after a while found myself binge eating and craving.
