Yesterday my husband and I made a trip to Shaw’s Supermarket in Belmont, New Hampshire, to stock up on some of the great deals we found in this week’s flyer. We made a list before we went, though, so we didn’t miss any of the items I wanted to buy.Since it’s their annual #StockUpSale, there are a lot of great deals just waiting to be snagged. And because I’ve been couponing, I was able to save us some more money, which my husband loved. (He’s seriously getting into this saving money thing like never before. He credits me for it since it’s not something he ever thought about before I came into the picture. I guess you could say I’ve had a positive impact on him.)
Our total savings for this trip was 24%, which to hardcore couponers is nothing, but to us, is a huge difference. We are building up our stockpile, which is definitely going to come in handy once slow season hits.
So what did we get? Lots of stuff!
The chicken was $2.99lb, so we grabbed two big packages of it, along with some Ziploc bags so we could freeze them in single-serving portions. That way I can only pull out what I need for meals and not extra. I will be using the chicken to make pulled chicken, chicken enchiladas, chicken in mushroom soup, stirfries and more.
The rice we use a lot of too, so when we saw it was 10/$10, we snagged 10 boxes. They won’t last long, so I’m hoping to pick up at least another 10 boxes, if not more.
We also bought 12 cans of veggies, six cans of tuna, two boxes of the Old El Paso Bold taco shells, 4 boxes of the Red Baron pizza, two packages of turkey bacon…and more, as you can see.
In total, we spent $107.32 and saved $33.72.
We definitely could have spent much more, but we didn’t have the money. I’m hoping we can make one more trip before the sale ends to grab some more products that we use a lot of, like the toilet paper and paper towels in the photos below. We bought three packages of toilet paper at $3.49 each, and three packages of paper towel for the same price each. What a great deal!
I have to say, I think it’s kind of funny that this was the purchase my husband was most ecstatic over. Hey, if it makes him happy, I’ll fill up the entire extra bedroom with rolls of each.
Did you make it to Shaw’s this past week? What did you buy? Comment below. I’d love to hear about your deals.
