Before now, my holidays were busy, but not super hectic because I didn’t have to plan family activities around custody schedules. But when I met my boyfriend, and we made the decision to move in together, to join our families together as one, things instantly changed for all of us, and I ended up with some MOMents that will stay with me for as long as I live. And with the help of Sprout, I was able to turn some of those MOMents into extra cute photos.
Planning family activities for our family of six isn’t easy, especially when my boyfriend’s kids are only home every other Friday night and on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesday nights. And of those nights, they have activities on Monday nights. That combined with my boyfriend’s work schedule leaves us very few days to plan anything. However, as hard as it was this year, we did find time to do a few things that were on our list.
We visited the Gift of Lights at New Hampshire International Speedway, something I’ve never done but that interested me a lot. And it ended up being an activity we all thoroughly enjoyed. Hearing the kids exclaim excitedly about the various displays was music to our ears. We plan on going every year now as one of our family traditions.
We were also able to make holiday cookies, decorate plastic bulbs for new Christmas ornaments, pick up our tree as a family, have a Christmas get together, including a wonderful Christmas morning with all four kids.
We also had the kids decorate mugs for the special people in their lives. I thought it would be a great gift for all. And it was.
We were also visited by our Elf on the Shelf, Patrick, and we were given some priceless moments courtesy of him.
My most cherished MOMent from this holiday season was when everyone got together at our house the Saturday following Christmas. I was able to cook a bunch of yummy food for everyone to eat. I did have to do most of the prep work, though, which made me a bit stressed at times, especially when I managed to dump a 1/3 of a bowl of mozzarella cheese on the floor that was for our lasagna rollups. Despite several hiccups along the way, we ended up having a wonderful time, and my side of the family got to meet my boyfriend’s side for the first time. And that was a very special moment for us and our children.
Do you have a special holiday MOMent from this year? Please share it below. I would love to read what made your holiday special…or hectic.

Usually our Christmas holiday is split. One year kiddo is with us Christmas Eve/ Morning then the following year we get her Christmas Day. So we always have to do the shuffle dance trying to cram everything into that time period. This year husband had to work on Christmas so she stayed with her mom the whole time and we did our Christmas over the weekend. It was hectic because Christmas dragged on for 3 days. But, at least she was able to play with all of her toys and wasn’t spending most of her holiday in the car.
