As a mom of four, two biological and two step, I know how easy it is to forget about my own health when I’m trying to stay on top of sports, activities and doctor’s appointments. It’s easy to push my own health concerns and well-being to the side and put all of my focus on my family. I did that for a long time, and as a result, I’m paying for it now. I’m at war with my body.

Recently I was diagnosed with PCOS, which if you have, you know it can wreak havoc on your entire body. Now that I know I have it, I’ve been putting in more of a conscious effort to take care of myself, even if that means putting the kids on the back burner for a few. A missed practice, event, etc is not going to hurt them. Not having a mom who’s healthy and can’t be there for them is worse.

In order to help promote how important our health is, I’ve joined forces with the Colgate-Palmolive Company to help promote National Women’s Health Week (May 8-14, 2016). Colgate Total® wants women from all across the country to take a pledge to take care of themselves…to Refresh, Restore and Repair their health.

One simple way to do just that is by using Colgate Total® Daily Repair regimen, which includes Colgate Total® Daily Repair Toothpaste and Colgate Total® Daily Repair Mouthwash.

I received a tube of toothpaste, a bottle of mouthwash and a toothbrush to help give me the best smile possible. And I have to say, the toothbrush, in conjunction with the toothpaste and mouthwash, leaves my mouth feeling squeaky clean. There’s no horrible taste that lingers, making you gag. Your mouth feels clean, which I think the tapered bristles on the brush definitely help with. I’m definitely able to reach areas I don’t reach with a regular toothbrush. I’m actually going out and buying each of us in the family this new toothbrush because it’s far superior than others I’ve tried.

Since I feel so strongly about women’s health, I’ve decided to take the pledge to my health first with the Colgate Total® Daily Repair #MyColgateSelfie.

In order for me to be at my best, I have to look at the bigger picture. Being healthy is not just working on my physical self, it’s also about working on my inner self. One way that I do that is by spending time outdoors, either with my husband or by myself, enjoying the sounds of nature and soaking up the sunshine. This is important during the Spring and Summer months because my skin craves the sunlight after long and dreary winters.

Today my husband and I took the time to go out for lunch and eat outside. We were blessed to not be swarmed by the evil gnats that are worse than I’ve ever seen them. It was nice to feel the wind blowing through my hair and across my skin.
