Today I spent several hours at McKinnon’s Market in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to celebrate their one-year anniversary at their Portsmouth location. I helped my younger brother with a demo for the company we work for, PaneBelle’s, a producer of organic and gluten-free products. We gave out samples of our premade gluten-free pizza and our gluten-free chocolate chip and blackberry dessert bars. They were a huge hit with adults and kids. I’ve tried the products before because I work at Take 2 Dough Productions, the parent company of PaneBelle. I swear by these products and recommend them to anyone looking for great tasting gluten-free products.
In addition to the samples we gave out, there were various other vendors giving out free samples of wine, beer, salsa, gingersnaps with marscapone cheese and peaches, cheese slices, etc. McKinnon’s was even giving out samples of shrimp, seafood sausage, hamburgers, hotdogs, and more. It was very easy to walk out of there with a full belly.
Anyway, today was my first time visiting McKinnon’s. My mom has been twice now. She raved about it after shopping there a couple weeks back, and I couldn’t wait to myself. Today I made the drive to Portsmouth by myself, which was a feat in and of itself, and was blown away by the store. I was beyond impressed with how clean the store was, the selection of meats, the friendliness of the people that work there, the selection of organic and gluten-free products, the bakery department, you name it. The produce had beautiful color and was wonderfully displayed. It was open and easy to navigate. I honestly did not have one complaint about the store and could have spent hours browsing every inch of that store.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a huge fan of Fiddlehead Marketplace in Dover, New Hampshire, but I do have a few complains about their store, mainly that’s it’s small and cramped. That is NOT an issue for the McKinnon’s Market location in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
I cannot wait to make another trip to the store. I will be keeping track of sales and making a trip periodically to pick up items for my son now that I am watching very closely what he consumes. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I have cut out Red Dye #40 from his diet. I’ve also been trying to cut out products containing gluten, as well as any products that contain lactose. McKinnon’s has the best selection of products I’ve seen. I feel confident knowing I can go there and have a wide selection of items to choose from when it comes to feeding my son.
Today I did splurge and bought the following items. I can’t wait to try them.
Asparagus: $3.70
Chinese Style Sausage (1.46lbs.): $3.88
Beef Florentine (.76lb.): $5.69
Seafood Sausage (.54lb.): $3.23
Stuffed Boneless & Skinless Chicken Thighs – Stuffed with broccoli, cheddar and bacon (1.02lb.): $3.36
Ground Chicken (1.23lb.): $3.68

Great to meet you at McKinnon’s yesterday! Thanks for the info on gluten-free children. I’m going to try it for my little daughter, who LOVED the pizza by the way! Looking forward to following your site! 🙂
Hi, Beth! It was nice to meet you at McKinnon’s yesterday too. I’m thrilled your daughter loved the pizza. It was a big hit for a lot of kids that stopped by the booth, as were the chocolate chip dessert bars. I’m hoping to start reviewing more gluten-free products on here, so I hope you find them useful.
If you end up trying the breadcrumbs, they are also very yummy on top of fish and homemade mac ‘n cheese.
