Disclosure: Thanks to SheSpeaks and Lancôme, I was given the opportunity to review Lancôme DreamTone. All photos featured in this post are 100% my own, as are any opinions.
When I was given the opportunity to try out Lancôme DreamTone I was a bit skeptical because I didn’t know if it would help me at all. I’ve tried a lot of products to help my skin and none have. In fact, many have made it worse. Why would this product be any different?
See, I’ve had horrible acne for years. I’ve not only been plagued with whiteheads and blackheads, I’ve also had to deal with cysts on my face…painful cysts that are red and sometimes as large as a nickel. Because of my cysts, I have developed red scarring and dark spots on my face that make me feel very self-conscious. I even hide behind my hair sometimes so people don’t see how bad my skin is.
I was made fun of in school because of my acne, and though no one has ever said anything to me as an adult, I still carry around the internal scars from the teasing as a teen. Since I haven’t been able to rid myself of these cysts which tend to pop up when I’m super stressed, the scarring continues, much to my dismay.
For years I have talked about someday getting some cosmetic work done on my face to help with the scars and discoloration. But the reality is, I probably will never be able to afford that kind of treatment. I’m not well off. I have enough to get by and that’s it. So dreams of beautiful skin are just that…dreams. Granted, I would love for them to come true, but this is not one I’m counting on.
Even though I hate my skin and usually don’t feel pretty, I am extremely lucky to have a man in my life who thinks I’m beautiful. He looks deeper than my skin and loves me for who I am and not for what I look like. He makes me feel comfortable enough to be around him without makeup. The only other people besides him and our kids that I allow to see me without any on my face is my mom, dad and brother. I rarely ever go to the store without any on. In fact, my boyfriend has convinced me on two separate occasions and both times I felt as though people were staring at me even though they weren’t. Hello insecurities!
I hate living this way and would love nothing more than to be able to walk outside and feel as beautiful as my boyfriend says I am. I want to be able to walk out the door and not feel like I have to put a mask on to do so.
I’m not asking for perfect skin because I know that will never happen. I will always struggle with acne. But to be able to go out and not feel as bad as I have in the past would be nice.
Well, I can say Lancôme DreamTone has definitely helped me some, and I know that the longer I use it, the more improvement I will see. To be able to have that opportunity, to not feel so insecure, is nice. I was not expecting a miracle “cure” when I started using Lancôme DreamTone. I was hopeful, though, and I’m glad to report that my hopes for some improvement were answered.
If you’re looking for an alternative to expensive facial treatments to help correct spots on your, I suggest trying Lancôme DreamTone before dropping a lot of money on a cosmetic procedure. Be prepared to use it for at least four weeks alongside your normal skin care routine. It’s recommended that you apply the tinted DreamTone moisturizer twice per day in order to get the best results possible. (Also, make sure to use additional moisturizer because I did experience dry skin while using this product.)
During the first week your skin should take on a glow that you may not have had before. I didn’t notice that my skin was glowing after my first week, but my boyfriend did and pointed it out to me.
As the weeks progressed, I noticed that my spots were becoming less prominent and my skin tone was more even. Take a look at the photos below to see the progression. They’re not of the best quality because the lighting in our bathroom is horrible. But you can still see acne on my face, along with the discoloration. I’ve also included some photos from after four weeks of use.

Thanks, Beth. I can’t wait to see what my skin will look like a month from now.
Dealing with sensitive skin is such a pain! It drives me crazy when a product that is supposed to help actually makes it worse too! Glad to hear (and see from your photos) that Lancome Dreamtone really does work! Thanks for sharing this product!

The line of products that made my skin worse was one that Hayden Pantierre was a spokeswoman for. It was for a skincare regime picked based on answers you entered on the company website. I think it was Neutrogena, but I can’t remember for certain. I remember one night I went out to dinner and my skin was so tight and dry from using the products that I could barely open my mouth. It was embarrassing.
