Throughout the year, my focus is ALWAYS on the kids, whether it’s my own spawn or those belonging to the boyfriend. Their wellbeing and needs are always my first priority, as are the needs and wellbeing of my boyfriend. I often put my own health on the backburner to take care of everyone else, which often results in me being sicker longer and more frequently.
My selflessness often causes a bit of “discussion” between the boyfriend and I. He thinks I need to take care of myself more…and I think he needs to hush. After all, that’s the pot calling the kettle black. In other words, he’s one to talk. He puts everyone else before him, which is why I take every opportunity to put him before me. I want him to know that all he does is appreciated. I want him to know how much he is loved.
There are times he does tell me to be a little selfish…to splurge. My idea of splurging is spending $5 on a book. Yes, the nerd in me wins nine times out of ten.
Since Christmas is almost here, I’m even more focused on giving our family a good one. I’m focused on making it memorable. And, of course, that means I forget about myself. And I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Christmas is about giving, not receiving, and I practice that even more during the holiday season. If I had to be selfish, though…if I had to pick what I would want for Christmas, this is what I would choose. And believe me, this list was not easy to compile because I don’t really have a lot that I want. And most of what I want/would like isn’t expensive and some actually benefit my family.
- A meatball scoop
- Doctor Sleep by Stephen King
- PS I Love You…my last copy got scratched
- A new candle for the bedroom
- A griddle
- Body wash
- A car starter
- A Pats jersey
- A Pats tshirt
- New jeans
- A warm hat and gloves
- A weekend away with my boyfriend
- A water fountain for our bedroom
Now that I’ve shared my holiday wants with you, it’s time for YOU to think about your or that special man in your life. I know I am. If my boyfriend can’t be a bit selfish sometimes, I can be it for him and see to it that he gets spoiled. And one of the ways I’m spoiling him this holiday season is by filling up his burlap Christmas sack with all kinds of goodies, including Axe® products, his go to cleansing items.
Right now if you purchase $15 worth of participating Axe® products, you can receive a $5 Walgreens gift card by scanning your receipts and uploading them to the Selfish Christmas website.
But wait! That’s not all. Those scanned receipts can also help you to win an Xbox One from now until December 31st. You don’t need to purchase items to enter. However, those Axe® items give you extra entries, which increase your likelihood of winning.
And yes, I’m being a wee bit selfish here because A: by purchasing these items at Walgreens, I’m saving money, which I love, and B: I get to have a great smelling man on my hands. Just ask him how much I love it when he smells good. He’ll probably tell you that I’ve been known to sniff him. True story!
Walgreens isn’t done helping you be selfish this Christmas! On December 21st, also known as AXE® Saturdate®, your local Walgreens will have Beauty Advisors on hand who will be giving away products samples AND coupons. They will also be available to answer any hair care and grooming questions you may have.
And from now until the 21st, you can purchase one participating product at regular price and get the second at 50% off! SWEET!
I have ONE MORE thing to share with you guys! That’s right I’m not finished yet. While here don’t forget to enter to win a $20 Walgreens gift card, which you could use to purchase said Axe® products for your man….or on something you want, like chocolate and wine.
Good luck and Happy Holidays!!
Awesome little giveaway! It is very easy to sometimes forget that while your spouse/significant other and children are important, YOU are also important and you have every right to treat yourself from time to time.
It is very easy. That’s why it’s nice when you have a spouse or significant other who remembers to make you feel special and important when you forget to.
