I know there are many parents who can relate to me when I say it breaks my heart when my kidlets are sick. I hate to see them under the weather and a mere shadow of their normal selves.
See, both of my children are active and full of life. They love to smile and joke around. And they never seem to run out of energy. That is until they get sick. Then it’s a totally different story, especially for my daughter. She goes from being a wisecracking 11-year-old to a sullen and grouchy girl who won’t even attempt a smile. But when she’s finally better, the old Mikala comes out and she graces us with the smile that melts our hearts much like it has since the first time she smiled as an infant.
As you can see in the photo below, my daughter also smiles with her eyes, which I love. Her entire face lights up and the corners crinkle. How can you not smile when you see that face? I know I can’t resist its infectiousness.
I’m also including the other photo I uploaded to the SMILING IT FORWARD™ website. This one is of my son when he was about a year old. I love the smile on his face. It warms my heart and definitely makes ME smile whenever I’m sad or struggling with one problem or another.
Don’t be afraid to admit it makes you want to smile too. His chubby-cheeked grins have always had that affect on people. They also make people want to squish them.
As a mom, to see my children smile after they’ve been sick is a huge relief. It lets me know they are feeling better, and that helps me feel not so helpless. Hopefully my daughter kicks this cold she’s been fighting soon so I can have my girl back.
Now it’s your turn to join Alyson Hannigan, myself and many others just like us, and share a photo of your child that makes you smile. I know! I know! It won’t be easy to choose just one, but you don’t have to! You can upload any photos that not only make you smile, but also warm your heart in the process.
To do so, please visit the SMILING IT FORWARD™ website and click on “Share a Smile”. You’ll be asked to upload a photo, which you’ll even be able to edit. Once done, you have the ability to share your smile-worthy photo via email or Facebook, as well as share it in the Smile Gallery.
Each time you share a photo, TYLENOL® will donate $1, up to $100,000, to Children’s Health Fund. Funds raised will be put to good use and help children from low-income families receive medical care that they so desperately need.
About Children’s Health Fund:
Children’s Health Fund was founded 25 years ago by singer and songwriter Paul Simon and Dr. Irwin Redlener. It brings low-income families an alternative to an expensive emergency room visit via a mobile medical clinic.
