One of the lessons my parents taught my brother and I as kids was that family isn’t always about who you’re related to. It’s often about those who love you and are there for you no matter what…who go above and beyond to show you how much you matter to them.
Now that I’m an adult, I’ve come to realize just how true that statement actually is. Since moving to New Hampshire to live with my now husband, my family has grown exponentially to include my husband’s family, and friends we have made together and apart, as well as my own family.
The friends we have aren’t just our friends. We look at them as we do our blood relatives. These new family members know who we are, accept we are and appreciate who we are.
They make us laugh, sometimes to the point of tears, and they are there to vent to when times get tough, as we are for them.
This holiday season is especially important to us because we get to spend time with all of the people that make our lives brighter, from my side of the family, to his side, and to the friends who have become our family. The memories we will create this holiday season are ones that we are going to treasure for the rest of our lives.
Like us TYLENOL® believes that family is about more than who you love but how you express that love, which is why they started the #HowWeFamily program, which features 11 American families, including actress and spokesperson Gabrielle Union.
This year TYLENOL® created a video showcasing those real families during special holiday moments that feature a wide range of emotions. (The soldier ones always get to me the most. I love to watch homecoming videos. They tug at my heartstrings.)
