This year my health is more important than ever before. Ever since I was put on medication at the end of last year to treat symptoms caused by PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), I’ve made numerous changes in my life. I’m working on not only getting physically fit but mentally and emotionally as well because I believe that being fit and healthy is more than something you can physically see.
It’s more than just a number on a scale getting smaller and smaller.
Being healthy starts on the inside. I firmly believe this, which is why I’m making a concerted effort to work on all areas of my body through various means, including:
Healthy eating
Taking vitamins
Exercising, including riding a stationary bike, yoga, Pilates and walking the dog.
Listening to music that makes me want to get up and dance
Aromatherapy
Using Himalayan rock salt lamps
And more.
As you can see, all of these changes help different parts of my body and mind.
Weight Watchers’ new Beyond the Scale program approaches getting and staying healthy with the same mindset that I have. They offer a holistic approach to reaching your healthy eating and healthy lifestyle goals. Weight Watchers wants you to feel better about yourself externally and internally so you can be happier and healthier. They want you to stay inspired and motivated and with the Beyond the Scale program, they are giving you the tools to do so.
Beyond the Scale is a personalized program that is customized to meet the needs, lifestyle, goals and challenges that each of us face on our weight-loss/healthy-living journeys.
While you can still eat what you want as long as you fall within your SmartPoints™ range, the focus is on eating less saturated fats and sugar and more lean protein, fruits and vegetables. But that doesn’t mean you can’t splurge once in awhile.
In other words, Beyond the Scale is NOT a diet. It’s a program that teaches you how to manage what you eat and how to get some exercise into your routine. It teaches you to make small changes in your life, like taking the stairs vs. the elevator, or parking in a spot that is further away from the entrance of a building.
When you sign up, you will take an assessment to find out what steps to take that will work best for you and the goals you have in mind. You will then be given a personalized SmartPoints™ budget that is calculated based on your current weight, height, gender, and age. Your budget includes a daily, as well as weekly allowance, that can be used on splurges, having bigger portions of your favorite meal or going out to eat. The system is simple and easy to follow. In the end it leads you towards eating healthier and more nutritious foods so that you not only eat better, but also feel better and have more energy while losing weight.
About Beyond the Scale:
Beyond the Scale now utilizes a new points system called SmartPoints™, which differs from the old points system which was focused only on losing weight. SmartPoints™ and BTS focuses on the entire picture…body and mind.
If you’ve been on Weight Watchers before, you will notice that point values have changed for many food items, so you’ll want to keep a close eye on the SmartPoints™ of the foods you eat.
All fruits and veggies have 0 SmartPoints™, and there are no required foods to worry about.
Also, Weight Watchers will help you learn to pick out the best foods when dining out, which can often be hard to do when you’re not sure what is best for you to eat.
Beyond the Scale also offers new fitness approaches to fit even the busiest lifestyles and offers tools to help you keep a positive mindset because getting healthy isn’t always easy and you need all the support possible.
There’s also the Weight Watchers app that allows you to track everything while on the go, which is a great tool for those of us who are constantly rushing from one place to another. I can attest to how useful it is because I use it myself.
So what are you waiting for? Are you ready to go Beyond the Scale with Weight Watchers?
