Over the past year I have been looking on Pinterest and other sites for lunch and snacktime ideas for my son that turn the ordinary into extraordinary. I know I’m not alone. Many of us moms want to find fun, unique ideas to surprise our children with. But we are also crunched for time and need options that don’t require too much prep.
Enter FunBites…a tool that cuts food into different bite-sized shapes.
FunBites is a must-have tool for moms on the go who want to give their little ones fun, bite-sized pieces of food that are fun to look at and play with but don’t require you to spend tons of time preparing them.
They are available in several shapes: triangles, squares and hearts and they retail for $12.99 each.
FunBites are made out of a colorful, durable plastic. I accidentally dropped mine on the floor and it didn’t crack, which is a great thing for moms with little ones. They aren’t always the most graceful and frequently drop things.
FunBites come in two pieces: the cutter and the insert, which pushes out the cut up pieces of food that may be stuck inside the cutter. The edges are not sharp, though, so you don’t need to worry about your little ones hurting themselves. Or you.
FunBites can be used on a variety of food items, including sandwiches, pancakes, watermelon, cantaloupe, burgers and more. I tried using mine on a small seedless watermelon that I had, but I think the watermelon was a little too far gone because when I tried to push the pieces out, they came out deformed and without the correct shapes. So word to the wise, make sure whatever fruit you use is fresh so it can retain the cute shapes of the FunBites cutter.
Be careful when using peanut butter and jelly sandwich, though. As you can see, the jelly leaked out. But once I pushed the pieces out and flipped them over, they looked cute. And perfect for tiny fingers to pick up.
