Since my kids and I moved in with my boyfriend and his kids almost a year ago, we’ve been talking about turning one of our extra rooms into an office for me. For awhile we thought the guest bedroom in the basement was a great choice, but we recently changed our mind on that. It’s cold in the basement during the winter months. And during the summer, when the kids are playing outside, I can’t see them in the backyard. That’s not ideal since there was an attempted abduction where we live towards the beginning of this school year.
The other day we were discussing my office again when my boyfriend brought up switching my son’s toy room to the basement and turning his playroom into my office. We went over the pros of having my office there, and they definitely outweigh the cons.
The problem with that room, as you can see below, is that it was very drab and boring. The room had zero personality. The walls were covered in primer. It was not a room I wanted to spend long periods of time in.
Lucky for me, my boyfriend completely agreed with me about the color of the room. It needed a drastic change. We also were in agreement that the area next to the closet door would not get painted because that is where we mark the kids’ height.
Last Friday night after we went out for my daughter’s 12th birthday dinner, we stopped at Lowe’s and picked up a bunch of samples to look at.
As you can see, we had quite a few to choose from. We ended up settling on a color called Drizzling Mist. Check back tomorrow for our second post in my office makeover series. The color we chose looks amazing on the walls.
