Disclosure: This is a sponsored event by Campus Book Rentals.
Recently I was selected, along with 84 other bloggers, to take part in a BTS Pay It Forward Event sponsored by Campus Book Rentals. CBR provided each blogger with $25 and each blogger was given the challenge to buy as many back-to-school supplies as possible with the money sent to them. We were then asked to give the items we bought to a charity or organization in each of our communities, so we could help a child in need.
When I mentioned this event to my boyfriend he got very excited and said, “Why don’t we match that amount?” So we did. And instead of helping one child in our community, we helped two.
We it came to donation time, we weren’t sure who to contact. I got to thinking and researching, as I so often do, and stumbled upon the information for Welfare in our city. My boyfriend then called the Director and she told us that the weekend before they gave out 70 backpacks and would be giving out more on the 17th of August, so she would love the two we filled.
Last week, my boyfriend and I, along with my two kids, went to the Town Hall and dropped the bags off. We also had a brief chat about other community events that we could take part in that would allow us to pay forward all the good things that have been done for us and that would allow us to teach our children the importance being random acts of kindness.
Though this event was to help underprivileged children, my boyfriend and I also took something away from it as well. We were humbled and left with a happy feeling inside knowing that two children would open those bags to find many supplies that would help them this coming school year. We knew it would feel like Christmas morning for these children, and we felt blessed to know that the smile they got at seeing the supplies we helped put there.
Here are all the goodies we purchased.
