We’ve had an extremely busy couple of months in our household. My daughter had track. Three out of four kids were preparing for a tae kwon do tournament. There was the play my stepdaughter was in and her trip to Washington, D.C. It’s been go go go. Last year during track my daughter did very well for her first year.
She came in 15th in the state in shot put. This year, she did even better. She qualified for four events at the State Championship: 100m hurdles, 200m, shot put and 4 x 100m relay. Her results: #9 in the state for shot put #6 in the state for 4 x 100m relay #20 in the state for 100m hurdles #15 in the state for 200m.
As you can see I was quite proud of her for doing as well as she did, and I can’t wait until next year to see how much more she improves. (I honestly think part of her success this year can be attributed to tae kwon do, which was made her stronger both mentally and physically.)
As for the TKD tournament, my son and daughter did very well. My son did struggle some since he’s the youngest, but I still am very proud of him.
My daughter got a gold medal in sparring, which was awesome, but not entirely unexpected. To many she comes across as meek and mild, but in reality, that child is fierce and tough. When I watch her during her tae kwon do classes, I’m blown away by the raw talent that lives within her. TKD comes naturally to her. She’s a work of art.
My son, he got a bronze in sparring. That medal came as a surprise
As for the school as a whole, the tournament was a raging success with all of our female students scoring a gold medal in at least one event. That’s AMAZING! It just goes to show that girls can do anything boys can do.
In addition to all the kids’ activities, I’ve even found the time to hang out at our friends’ lakehouse. With as busy as we are, and the stress we’ve been dealing with, me especially, it’s become very important for me to spend time at places that relax me. The past two weekends have been extremely relaxing and fun. I loved that I had the opportunity to take some amazing photos of all the kids.
The first weekend I took his awesome shot of my friends’ kids out at the end of the doc as one of our other friends splashed them with the jet ski. The squeals of laughter were priceless and music to our ears.
The second weekend I had my kids with me and they got to do some fishing. Both are naturals. Although, my daughter’s choice of clothing for fishing is…unique, to say the least.
And there’s my son….using my pink fishing pole. People can talk smack about it all they want, but he caught six fish with it, so it works great.
Stay tuned for pics from the kids next testing on Saturday, as well as my husband’s first testing. Yes, this proud wife is going to brag about her hubby.
