I have naturally very wavy hair, that sometimes looks curly, that can be a bit unruly and messy at times. And while I sometimes want the messy, windblown beach hair look (see below), there are times I want my hair to be straight and sleek looking…polished. Perfect for a night out with the boyfriend.
I used to use a flat brush and blow dryer but I never got the results I was hoping for. Last summer I borrowed my aunt’s hair straightener and fell in love with it. A few months I later went out and bought my own. I refused to spend exorbitant amounts of money on one, though, so I purchased one that cost $20.
Once I purchased it, I posted on Facebook that I didn’t understand why people would spend more money on a hair straightener. I was then informed that that higher priced ones last longer, are better for your hair, work more effectively, etc. I still wasn’t sure, though.
Until now.
I recently was given the opportunity by the Flat Iron Experts to review the Cortex Solo 450 Titanium Digital Flat Iron / Hair Straightener. AND OMG! I’m in love!! (Don’t tell the boyfriend.)
Seriously, this flat iron / hair straightener does amazing things to my hair. The look I’ve been trying to achieve without completely damaging my hair has finally been achieved. And I couldn’t be happier. My boyfriend either. He just pulled up a photo of me with straightened hair from before and his comment was, “The new one works so much better.”
I am now a FIRM believer in spending the extra money. I am beyond impressed with this straightener. And the holder and shine spray that came with it. I cannot sing my praises loud enough.
I love that it can be used whether your hair is wet or dry. The night I tried the straightener, I showered beforehand in preparation for the Rascal Flatts concert later that evening. I knew it would take longer to straighten my hair because it was wet (see photos below), but it was still way quicker than using my old one, which I could also use on wet hair. The length of time was shortened by a great deal.
I can honestly say that I actually felt confident when I walked out the door that evening. I thought my hair looked pretty, which I don’t usually say. In fact, during the concert my boyfriend ran his fingers through my hair and said, “Your hair looks beautiful. It’s so soft.” So not only does this straightener get two thumbs up from me, it does from my boyfriend, as well.
Another feature that I loved is the cord. It looks like a red rope. It’s 11 feet long and doesn’t tangle.
Other notable features include the digital display screen that displays your chosen temperature. You can choose from between 310 up to 450. But be careful. It gets REALLY hot. And once you unplug it, allow it to cool properly before putting it away.
So if you’re looking to purchase a new flat iron / hair straightener, I highly suggest checking out the Flat Iron Experts website. They offer great deals on many products, including curling irons, blow dryers and more.
Good review, but I personally love my Karmin iron.
