Disclosure: I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for mike’s hard lemonade. I received a Circle K gift card to facilitate this review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.
As a mom of four, two biological and two step, my life is hectic, to say the least. I’m constantly running my two from one place to another, and on some days, throwing in activities for my husband’s two, as well. It’s nonstop hustle and bustle, and let me tell you, I get tired. Very tired. There are some days I can barely keep my eyes open. That’s not the best thing when you’re behind the wheel of a moving vehicle.
The other day I actually sat down and figured out how much time I spend focusing on our kids’ activities each week. Want to take a guess how many hours each week?
20 to 30!!
For example, our schedule looks like the following right now:
Sunday – softball, pick up kids in Alton
Monday – soccer practice or game, TKD
Tuesday – volleyball games or practice, TKD
Wednesday – soccer practice or game
Thursday – volleyball game or practice, TKC
Friday – volleyball game or practice, TKD, sometimes TKD testing
Saturday – soccer, driving to Alton to meet my kids’ dad, sometimes TKD testing
Mixed in among all these dates are pickups from school for various reasons, including appointments, and so I can get to volleyball games in time to watch my daughter play, as well as driving to said activities listed above.
And if the kids forget something at home? Momma brings it to them.
If the kids have a party or activity at school during the day, I’m there too!
As you can imagine, between work and everything else that I do for the kids and my husband, there’s not a lot of down time for me to relax and focus on me. I know that’s not healthy, which is why my husband forces me to take a step back every once and awhile and focus on someone else that matters….ME!
Why? Because moms matter too. We don’t actually have super powers…even though we like to believe we do.
We get tired.
We get sick.
We get stressed out.
So it’s important that we do find time, even if it’s time forced on us by our significant other’s, to sit down and take a load off.
For me, my time happens at the end of the day, once the children are in bed and my husband and I are cuddling on the couch, watching one of the following: Haven, Once Upon a Time, Sullivan & Son, The Big Bang Theory, etc. It’s at that time that my husband opens me an adult beverage, like mike’s hard pink lemonade.
We sit there, laughing, joking ar0und and focusing on each other. It’s our time to relax and reconnect.
mike’s hard lemonade is refreshing to drink and easy for me to pick up on the days we have TKD. We have a Circle K just down the road from their school, so I can drop them off and make a quick run to the store to get my husband and I a treat, and many others items we may need, like milk and bread, and still get back in time to watch my kids.
mike’s hard lemonade is more than just a treat
What’s great about treating myself to some mike’s hard pink lemonade is that not only am I giving myself a treat, I’m also helping to support breast cancer awareness. mike’s hard lemonade has contributed over $1 million to breast cancer research since it was first released in 2009.
I love that they have contributed money towards breast cancer research because like so many others, my life has been touched by breast cancer. A couple years ago my grandmother was diagnosed with it. Luckily for her, she pulled through and is still going strong.
And then there’s my mom. Doctors found a lump in her breast about a year and a half ago, or so, and while they are continuing to monitor it to make sure it doesn’t grow, news of a lump still made us all think of breast cancer. How could it not?
As you can imagine, I always worry that one day I will discover a lump in my own breasts. In fact, I panic whenever I find a lump in my underarm area even though I know it’s just cysts that I periodically get when I’m stressed out. It’s something I’ve been living with for years, and must take antibiotics for when I have a flareup. Even so, I still panic every time.
Because I worry so much about my breasts, I often have my husband check them to make sure he doesn’t feel anything. And he’s a good sport about it…and why wouldn’t he be? LOL!
So, if you’re looking for a way to treat yourself, and to help support breast cancer awareness and research, go to your nearest Circle K and pick up some mike’s hard pink lemonade.
