Disclosure: “I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Zappos.com. I received product samples to facilitate my review.”
As many of you already know, I’m a mom to four kids, two biological and two step. That means we have four very different personalities to contend with when it comes to back-to-school shopping.
Our oldest (girl) and youngest (boy) love to shop while the two middle kids could do without it. Because of their different personalities and likes, it can be quite a chore to take them all shopping for back-to-school clothing and supplies.
For example, at the beginning of the summer we went to our local outlet mall to do some shopping for some clothes. It was nice out, so we the husband and I) decided to walk from store-to-store instead of driving around. It was sunny out and warm.
I bet you can guess what happened.
“I’m bored.”
“My feet hurt.”
“This is stupid.”
“These clothes are ugly.”
“I hate shopping.”
“Why do we have to do this?”
“So and so is looking at me.”
“It’s too hot.”
“I’m sweating.”
“I’m thirsty.”
“That’s not cute enough.”
“I wish I could get this because so and so has it.”
Obviously all the complaining stressed my husband and I out. We weren’t out that long but it felt like eternity because of how the kids were behaving.
To be honest, we now try and avoid taking all four kids into stores together because someone always complains or asks for something. None of them want to hear no when we can’t afford whatever it is they want, so it’s better if I go out by myself or wait for a time when it’s just my husband and me. By doing so, we avoid all the drama that comes with each trip out.
I’ve even started doing a vast majority of our clothes shopping online for several reasons, including the convenience of it. The schedule we have is CRAZY, and it can be hard to find time to go out and buy clothes. Seriously, this season we have children in Tae Kwon Do, softball, volleyball and soccer. I run seven days per week. There’s not a lot of extra time for other outings.
When I was asked to try out Zappos.com and become a part of their Ambassador Program I was excited. I had never shopped on the site before but I had heard of it and wanted to give it a try. I was given $300 to shop on their site for back-t0-school clothes so I could experience for myself why Zappos.com is a great site for moms like me who have back-to-school shopping to do.
I am very impressed with Zappos.com, for not only how easy the site was to navigate, but also because of how quickly I received my order; I placed my order on a Thursday, I believe, and it came in on a Monday.
Also, shipping was free, as are returns. For moms like me who are pinching pennies, free returns are great because if the clothes don’t fit, we can return them for a different size without incurring more charges.
Zappos.com also offers 24-hour customer service in case you do run into any issues along the way.
I was able to locate items for all four kids easily, even with their tastes being so different. They carry clothing to fit all of our children’s likes, which is great. It’s one-stop shopping for momma, and that makes me happy.
I love that you can pick and choose clothing sizes, colors, styles, etc. It made it easier to locate stuff for my daughter, who isn’t the biggest girly girl I know. (That title goes to my stepdaughter.)
I purchased the following items from Zappos.com for just under $300. I can’t complain.
Roper Ride or Die Screen Print w/Rhinestones
Roper Cold Shoulder w/Shine Screen Print in Orange
Life is Good Kids Kickin’ It Soccer Easy Tee
Vans Authentic Bright Pink Sneakers
Life is Good Positive State of Mind Tech V-Neck Tee
The North Face S/S Rapelling Tee
United Colors of Benetton Kids T-shirt
